    Job Description:
    Oracle DBA � Austin, TX � contract to hire.

    •2+ years experience as a Production Oracle Database Administrator •Database uptime - Perform tasks assigned by lead DBA to support database uptime objectives. •Participate in on-call pager rotation supporting 24x7 database operations.•Database performance - Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues.•Database backup processes - Follow documented procedures to implement and monitor database backup processes
    •Provide SQL tuning assistance under direction of lead DBA; Strong PL/SQL, SQL, and Linux shell scripting skills
    •Minimum of 2 years of System Administration or Software Development required.•College course work or equivalent work experience with data modeling highly desirable. Exposure to design, implementation and management of large scale databases preferred. •Resolving production, staging or development problems.•SQL and performance tuning.
    •Strong analytical and problem-solving skills •Strong Oracle SQL tuning and trace file interpretation •Strong command of Oracle 10g or 11g database features, including function-based indexes, bitmap indexes, star transformation, partitioning, query rewrite, object tables, table functions, analytic functions, CBO, flashback query.•Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle internals such as the wait reporting facility and tables•Thorough understanding of Red Hat Linux 5.x server in Oracle RAC environment•2+ years application development experience•Familiarity with RMAN backup and recovery.•Interpret AWR/Statspack reports to identify performance problems.•Implement and manage database changes to support development activities.•Follow established processes using approved tools to implement application required database changes.•Participate in code migrations.•Assist application development teams in using database technology effectively.•Use internal tools and follow documented procedures to deploy and manage application database changes.•Diagnose and troubleshoot application driven database changes in development, staging and production environments. Improve tools to reduce administrative effort and improve quality.•Participate in production on-call support rotation. •Assist application developers with SQL performance tuning. Identify database and application performance problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
    Degree: BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Sciences or demonstrated job performance.

    Oracle Certified Database Administrator preferred.
