    Description


    The Senior Field Engineer is a high-level field hardware technician focused on the highest level of client satisfaction. He/She is responsible for responding to assignments primarily involving the installation, repair and/or maintenance of personal computer hardware equipment and peripherals at customer locations







    1. Performs necessary hardware and peripheral repairs. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying the problem and determining the most efficient and cost effective way to resolve the problem, keeping customer downtime to a minimum.



    2. Installs and tests system hardware at customer site. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up the hardware, testing the hardware to make sure it is working, identifying system hardware problems and following any special instructions.



    3. Provides first technical support and supervisory support for other Field Engineers. This includes, but is not limited to, responding to questions, assisting with troubleshooting, and determining problems.



    4. Completes all required documentation involved in a service call to ensure accurate billing, and timely return of defective products/parts, with respect to warranty or contract. This includes completion of required Insight and vendor paperwork, preparing defective product or parts for return to vendor, and promptly returning defective products/parts and paperwork according to Insight policies and procedures.



    5. Assists with training of Field Engineers. This includes, but is not limited to, training new Field Engineers on service call procedure, call opening, call closing, parts return and comply with Field Engineering Policy guidelines.



    6. Enhances level of technical training and skill set through active deployment within chosen technical path / skill set. Maintains knowledge of new technologies and vendor offerings that are cost effective resulting in continued client satisfaction.



    7. Maintains and protects Insight assets and property. This includes spare parts, loaners, tools and test equipment, as well as equipment that may be provided by Insight’s customers.



    8. Escalates service problems and issues to the service manager or Lead FE as appropriate. This includes service calls exceeding commitments with regard to response time, repair time, lack of spare parts, training or any other actual or potential customer satisfaction problem.







    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Education:



    Associate Degree in the field of technology studies, or equivalent education and/or experience.



    Work Experience:



    Minimum of three years bench and/or on-site service technical experience.



    Minimum of one year network installations/service experience.



    Technical Skills:



    Required:PC and Printer Level II Experience, A+, Windows, Hardware troubleshooting, great client skills, good references and proven background



    Preferred:Server Experience, Server+ or Network+, cabling knowledge
